Lutes?

Well, not quite lutes, but close relatives. I have in the shop now a six-string baglama and a four-string liuqin, which you could think of as a small pipa.

Both have decent frets—wooden pieces on the liuqin and tied fishing leader on the baglama.

Both are in need of proper bridge work for string height and intonation.

Out with the old / In with the new

The guitar is a Godin Multiac Nylon Duet, brought in for a new string nut and some fret levelling.

I shaped a new string nut from unbleached bone and narrowed the string span to bring the top and bottom strings a bit further in from the fret ends.
